András Lányi
András Lányi is also the founder and presidential member of Élőlánc (Living Chain) party, an eco-conscious organization, and prize-winner of the order of Hungarian Republic. „I was a film director but I became a writer. I wrote novels, narratives, study books, essays and articles. I also had a modest role in the democratic opposition’s activity. I edited illegal journals, video-periodicals and an ecological-psychological anthology. I was one of the organizers of the combat against building a hydro-power plant on the river Danube. With my friends in 1997 I established an organization with the name Duna Charta and Védegylet to protect those things without which, we think, life is worthless. To be able to reason for our views I studied political philosophy and ethics. That is how I became a university lecturer. At the moment I lead a specialization course on human geography and ecology at ELTE University, at the Faculty of Social Sciences. I am married and have two daughters.
András Lányi teaches ecology at the Integral Academy.
